Regicide is co-operative: everyone wins or loses together. New to it?

How to play Regicide

Work together to defeat the 12 royals of the castle: 4 Jacks, then 4 Queens, then 4 Kings.

  1. The enemy. Jacks have 20 health and attack for 10. Queens: 30 and 15. Kings: 40 and 20.
  2. Your turn. Play a card from your hand to attack. Its value is its damage: A = 1, 2–10 as shown, J = 10, Q = 15, K = 20.
  3. Combos. Play 2–4 cards of the same rank if they total 10 or less (2‑2, 3‑3‑3, 5‑5, 2‑2‑2‑2). An Ace can join any one other card: A + 9 hits for 10 and uses both suits.
  4. Suit powers use the full attack value:
    • ♥ Hearts heal: shuffle the discard pile and put that many cards under the tavern deck.
    • ♦ Diamonds draw: draw that many cards, dealt one at a time from you round the table, skipping full hands.
    • ♣ Clubs: double damage.
    • ♠ Spades shield: the enemy's attack drops by that much until it's defeated.
    Hearts happen before Diamonds.
  5. Immunity. An enemy ignores the power of its own suit (the damage still counts). A Queen of Clubs isn't doubled by clubs.
  6. Defeat it. Reach its health and it's defeated: you go again against the next one. Hit its health exactly and you capture it: it goes on top of the tavern deck for someone to draw and play (Jack 10, Queen 15, King 20).
  7. Take the hit. If it survives, it attacks you: discard cards worth at least its attack (after shields). If you can't, everyone loses.
  8. Yield. Instead of playing, you can yield and just take the hit. Not if every other player yielded on their last turn.
  9. Jester (3–4 players). Played alone, it cancels the enemy's immunity, and Spades played into that immunity start shielding. Nobody takes damage, and you choose who goes next.
  10. Solo. You get 8 cards and 2 Jester powers instead: at the start of your turn or before you discard, flip one to discard your hand and draw a fresh 8. Win with both unused for gold, one for silver, none for bronze.
  11. Win by defeating the last King. Lose if a player can't survive an attack, or can't take a turn at all.

Tips

Diamonds keep the team alive: play them when hands have room. Spades early in a fight make every later attack cheaper. Clubs and exact captures are how you beat Kings. When you take a hit, throw your least useful cards and keep Diamonds and Hearts. Teammates can't see your cards, and you can't see theirs: that's the rule.

Controls

Tap cards to select them. The line under your hand shows exactly what the play will do, and whether you'd survive the counter-attack. Hint suggests a move.
